Longing

Give me a flower or two

Take me to your gardens where your tulips grew

I’d rather have one flower from you

Than to have hundreds when I’m at my due

Tell me your thoughts, whisper your dreams

Your words of kindness, flow them like streams

I’d rather hear those lines from now and then

Than have you write a eulogy, we’ll never know when

Show me your smile, and your gleaming eyes

Look at me with glow, that’s such a prize

I’d rather see that beautiful beam

Than to have your tears flow with what could have been
