When your heart’s broken, you can’t sleep. Your mind’s filled with haze, with questions, with fear. And even if you fall asleep, you’ll find yourself waking up at three in the morning just because your heart’s too heavy and you can’t breathe. You then beat yourself up for being unworthy, for being not enough, for being ugly, and for being replaceable.
When your heart’s broken, tears keep falling. You want to stop, but you can’t. If only the pain could go away overnight. If only you could pull out the knife rammed deep into your chest and feel better in an instant. If only it were that easy, everyone would’ve done it by now. Everyone would’ve moved on easily.
When your heart’s broken, the whole you is broken. You don’t feel beautiful. Fear embraces you, and you succumb to that dark place. You lose your confidence, you lose your faith. You lose connection with who and what’s surrounding you.
And the worst part is you lose YOU.
If you’ve been lied to, cheated on, replaced, pushed aside, treated wrongly and broken into pieces, I hope someday you realize how worthy you still are of love.
If your heart’s been broken, I hope you find the strength to love again.
I hope you remember how gorgeous flowers are, most especially when your arms are wrapped around them.
I hope you remember how chocolates sweetly taste, most especially when they were given with sticky notes saying, “Have a great day!” or “Don’t forget to smile.”
I hope you remember how letters can make your heart race, for those are emotions made tangible on paper.
I hope you remember how wonderful it is to go out into the world with your head held up high for you are beautiful, and so is your smile.
If your heart’s been broken, I hope you find the urge to build yourself up again and be ready to love. For love is so great to miss out in this short but worthwhile journey we call life.
