Just in case you forgot, you are not alone

Have you ever felt so out of place that you wanted to avoid people and just stay within the comforts of your four-walled room?

Have you ever felt so dejected that all you ever wanted was to lie down, be away from all the noise and just be by yourself?

Have you ever felt so tired that you wanted to throw away everything and give up?

If you have been beaten by stress, anxiety, loneliness, depression and worries, you are not alone.

If you feel sad, it’s okay to cry.

Pain demands to be felt. Feel it all out until it dries up and you’ll be surprised it’s already gone. Besides, there’s no other way out when you are in pain. You can hide it, but it’ll eventually crawl out and hit you harder than it ever did in the first place.

And it’s never easy. When I feel sad, I feel sad for a very long time. I hide it behind my smiles and jokes. But deep down, I hate the world and I just wanna cry all night. My chest hurts and I feel sorry for my heart. It doesn’t deserve to feel all the pain but it’s here, feeling all of it.

But crying really does help. Think of it like this. When you cry, your tears are your worries and sorrows leaving your body. It’s going out of you. Know that crying doesn’t make you weak, it doesn’t make you any less of a person. In fact, it makes you more human.

‘Cause humans hurt. And humans cry. Humans feel pain.

If you feel alone, know that you’re not.

With these trying times, we have to try to live. It’s easy to be disconnected and disoriented right now. We feel like it’s difficult to build relationships and form connections. It’s as if everyone’s running in parallel lines that crossing paths become impossible.

But it’s not. We will, sooner or later, cross paths again.

Yes, we were born alone and we will die alone. But we don’t live alone. We never do.

Maybe we just have to find someone who we can be alone with. Or maybe we should find people to be around with.

You are not alone. You just feel alone. You have every right to guard your heart and yourself, but don’t put up walls too high that people might not be able to cross and enter your life.

If you feel unheard, I’ll listen.

I’ll listen to rants about life and work. I’ll listen to your dreams, your desires, your goals. I’ll listen to all your weird thoughts and mind-blowing perspectives. I’ll listen to your opinions and might even debate with you. I’ll listen to your repeated whines and complaints. I’ll listen to the reasons why you still can’t get over someone. I’ll listen to your heartaches.

I’ll listen to everything.

If you feel tired, it’s okay to rest.

It’s been a year of uncertainty, loss, depression and fear. Tragedy after tragedy makes it difficult to believe that we’ll ever find hope again. It’s exhausting.

And if you think about all the work you’ve been doing just to get through the day, there’s nothing really inspiring about it anymore. It’s tiring.

So, go and rest. Take a minute, take a break — take a week or a month off. It’s okay to rest. Take the space to explore all your passions and heal your soul. Rest and take your mind off worrying for you need healing.

Don’t fret. The world will welcome you back with arms wide open when you’re ready.

If you feel useless, know that you are important.

Your life is important, so is your story. Your likes, your dislikes, your favorite food and your life’s aspirations are important. You are important like everyone else.

Your choices matter, your actions too. Your beliefs matter, and so do you.

You are not alone, in case you forgot. We all are going through something. But this isn’t the time shut out.

You are not alone. I’m here, I’m like you.
